[REG]: When a QGLWidget is created and added as a child then the mainwindow will no longer be active

When a QGLWidget is created and added as a child then the mainwindow will no longer be active. Clicking on the window will cause it to be active again. This also happens (albeit in a more contrived case) with a QWidget that is created with the MSWindowsOwnDC flag when the QApplication attribute - AA_CreateWidgetsImmediately is turned on.

Attached is an example that shows how to do this with a QGLWidget, after starting click on the menu and choose Create Dockwidget.
