    Description

I can not pass compiler options to build system when compiling Qt. Neither environment variables CFLAGS/CXXFLAGS nor QMAKE_CXXFLAGS works. ./configure QMAKE_CXXFLAGS+=<blah-blah-blah> as suggested by the ./configure -help does not work either, but if I supply there an incorrect compiler flag, configure reports "ERROR: Cannot compile a minimal program. The toolchain or QMakeSpec is broken."

The only way I found to pass compiler flags is to edit a mkspec file.
