No way to add signals to custom components in Design Mode

In the coffee maker example, the custom component NavigationButton.ui.qml has an outgoing signal "clicked." I went to create a similar custom component in my own project and realized that Design Mode GUI does not offer a way to add a signal to a custom component. I was forced instead to edit the .ui.qml by hand, which is strongly discouraged by the boilerplate comments.
