Application stops redrawing after closing and opening laptop when on an external monitor

Conditions: 

Application must be on an external monitor and the laptop display must be the primary monitor

Steps to reproduce: 

1. Start the application
2. Close the laptop lid and then open again while application is on the external monitor.

Actual result:

Application no longer repaints when interacting with the UI.

Expected result:

Application repaints when interacting with the UI.

Notes:
We have been able to reproduce this bug with an application created in Qt Creator and have narrowed it down to happening when we include an Image.

If set set QT_LOGGING_RULES="*.screen.updates=true" we notice that the display link is not updated correctly.

Test application attached: Clicking on the coloured rectangle will change the colour of the rectangle. After closing and opening the laptop lid the rectangle no longer changes colour when clicked. The log message is displayed.
