Scene2D QML Example badly rendered

tested on Ubuntu Linux Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS, 64 bit, gcc
Qt from online installer

When running Scene 2D QML example - the Qt logo and menu is black (not rendered?).
See attached files the black and white is the reslut of thest, the green is the expected from example documentation.

In addition:

QML debugging is enabled. Only use this in a safe environment.
