REG: performance regression in qml text delegates

    Description

      A 19% performance regression has been seen in qmlbench between 5.12 and 5.15.

       

      Tests affected:

      benchmark v5.12.0 5.12 5.15 percentDiff_5.12/5.15
      delegates_longtext.qml 278 287 232 -19%
      delegates_textinput.qml 373 409 340 -17%
      delegates_textfield.qml 126 138 119 -14%
      delegates_textarea.qml 150 160 139 -13%
      delegates_textedit.qml 123 129 112 -13%

       

      It appears this entered the codebase in 5.14 sometime around 22-Oct-2019 and was subsequently merged up to dev/5.15.
