Search and Replace gets mangled on Linux possibly due to symlinks

    Description

      I have a project with multiple sub projects that share some files as symbolic links. This could be the reason for the problem but I'm not sure.

      When I search for a pattern and do a replace in all resulting files, the replacement gets mangled.

      For example replacing "MyClass" with "MyClassPtr"  can result in "MyClassPtrPtrPtrPtrPtrPtr".
