Add an option to prioritize keyboard shortcuts over text editor

In Options > Environment > Keyboard -> Would it be possible to add an option to make a Keyboard shortcut prioritized over text input ?

CONTEXT

I have binded the ² key to the "locate" edit box.

When running Qt Creator 4.10.x I have no issue calling it from any scenario.

In Qt Creator 4.11.x the text editor has priority and receives the key event before the locator.

In my scenario, I get an appended ² in my text view instead of opening the locator window... And this is quite annoying .
