    Description

When I start typing a new line in a code file, the line annotation sticks its
head on the line trying to warn about errors. I am tired of this distraction.
It has no intelligence to know what I am typing.

I want to turn it off. I did a search and I find from my search that this garbage
can not be disabled. I have been writing code for over 45 years. I am tired
of all the bells and clangs making it harder for me to produce simple statements.

Another thing. I don't like the code completion. I type a quote. It automatically
adds the ending quote. I am in the habit of doing this. It does not know if my
string will extend over multiple lines and include other pieces. The same
goes for all of the parenthesis and square brackets.

I do like the insertion of the closing braces when I start a block (open brace)
on a new line. But if necessary can do without this.

I keep trying to change the tab definition to 3 spaces, but it seems no matter
how hard I try it wants to use 4 spaces for tabs.

And I go to Tools/options and I want to change global editor options
but that option is disable. I can only make changes to "custom' values.
I wonder if that is part of the problem. Is the editors following the
global settings and ignore the custom specifications. How do I know
      which profile is being used?
