GUI Not Responding for minutes while Preparing C++ Code Model

The entire application freezes for minutes immediately after the progress bar in the lower right corner pops up stating "Preparing C++ Code Model".  After it unfreezes, there is no output in the General Messages panel, so I don't know the source of the problem, i.e. I did not re-run CMake.
