installer conf substitutions with leading spaces don't work

    Description

      If installer configuration has substitution with leading space:

      substitutions:              %EXTRA_MACHINE_NAME%= (QBSP),

      the substitution is then empty:

      WARNING: Empty value for substitution string given, substituting anyway: %EXTRA_MACHINE_NAME%=

      This was still working before Christmas.
