QSS: QSizeGrip { image: } shows image only when in bottom-right corner

The attached program styles a QSizeGrip laid out in a QVBoxLayout with alignment using

setStyleSheet("QSizeGrip { image: url(...) }");

This works as long as the size grip is shown in the bottom-right corner. Already starting the application with -reverse will make the icon disappear.
