Regression: Text selection with shift-click stopped working

      Text selection with shift-click stopped working. To reproduce: open the textedit example, click somewhere to set the text cursor, then move the mouse elsewhere, shift-click. On 4.7.0 (and earlier) this would select the text between the two cursor/click positions. On 4.7.2 this might work about 1 in 20 times.
