XMLHttpRequest doesn't set the .response property when loading a non 'arraybuffer' type file e.g. text file. Third party JavaScript code e.g. three.js expects to get any response regardless of type from .response property. The attached test demonstrates the issue. The .response property should print out the same textual data that is in .responseText .
