Should we talk about "daylight-saving time" instead of "daylight time" ?

      We repeatedly mention "daylight time".
My understanding is that this is a contraction of "daylight-saving time".
The usual abbreviation, DST, is derived from this more formal name.
It is widely used (and thus understood) but I believe it is formally incorrect.
I can easily change it, but is the increased verbosity worth it ?
