QTextEdit: Some fonts misaligned compared to Qt 5.4.1

    XMLWordPrintable

Details

    Description

Some fonts are vertically misaligned compared to Qt 5.4.1 (and 5.5.1) when using QTextEdit, QTextBrowser or QPlainTextEdit. QLabel and QLineEdit don't have this issue, so I think the problem is not the font rendering in general.

Tested on Windows 10 and OpenSUSE Tumbleweed, both have this issue when using the Algerian font. There are some other fonts which also have this symptom.

      Steps to reproduce:
      1. Install the attached font (named Algerian)
      2. Compile and run Text Edit example in Qt 5.4.1 or 5.5.1, switch the font to Algerian and size to 72 and type something. Do the same with Qt 5.6.1 or 5.7.0.
-> Compare the results, the texts are in different vertical positions between versions.

Example font and a screenshot of the problem attached.
