Tiles disappear when tilting

Using non square window sizes (e.g., 1280x718), at minimum zoom level, when tilting (like around 28 degrees) some tiles are consistently invisible.

to reproduce:
rescale the mapviewer example (https://github.com/paoletto/mapviewer) to 1280x718, zoom out, tilt to 28 degrees approximately, and pan around.
