[REG: 5.9->5.10] Big performance degradation with large MTU

      Change a9ff368ac7244009b7a961388fe95372fbd7179c causes a big drop in UDP performance. In the past it was found that setting the MTU of the network interface to 8192, but this change changed decreased the buffer size from 8192 to 1500 so that seems to have quite a big impact.

      Maybe the 1500 default size is sensible default, but perhaps this could be instead adjustable rather than hardcoded
