The suggestion here would be to add an option to enable smart "as you type" autocompletion. (no need to press Ctrl+space...)
A few things that might need to be considered:
-when pressing escape, the dropdown should be temporarily disabled, so that it's not going to come back after typing a new character.
-completion doesn't always make sense (when declaring new variables for instance)
