Git can create ambiguous ref and cause ref/branch to freeze

    Description

      For some reason git creates a file with a ref in the bare repository. This file's path matches to a ref/branch and causes ambiguous ref. This then can cause the ref/branch to freeze and not be updated to latest from the remote.
