• Create a 2D project
• Add a few states with different background colors.
• Select the root item, and change the state.
• Maybe it's not a bad idea to also select the state in the states editor to see the item changed.

I'm not sure how `detach disabled view` might affect this selection. Probably this one also should be checked when the states editor is not enabled.

Of course, selecting a state shouldn't set the state property of the root.
