    Description

As part of the ongoing research into UX improvements we would like to investigate the possibility of adding tool ribbons that work in a similar way to other design tools. These would replace the item library and introduce a new way of adding content to your design. Each Tool Palette would require the option of having further nested palettes associated with it.

The main questions regarding the feasibility of this are:

The initial versions of this could work with the same drag and drop functionality, with the difference being the tool palette being the location they are dragged from. However, we would need to think about how this affects the library imports for these items. (many of our drawing shapes require the studio components import to be available). Would it be possible, for example, to add the imports after a shape is added that requires one.

What is the effort required to change the way items are added in order to be able to draw your shapes with a cursor rather than drag and drop objects.

What is the effort required to add the missing tools and shapes we currently don't have, such as a pen tool, ovals, stars, n-sided polygons?
