When typing filename for new project in QDS, the filename can only have alphanumeric characters.

Underscore and dash are widely used in filenames in the internet times.

Ideal situation:

Any string typed by the user can be used as filename.

Proposal:
When opening the creation, a popup should tell what are accepted characters (IF such restriction applies). 

Proposal 2:

the accepted filename could be shown with italics e.g. Filename
