    Description

Design Studio needs a new runner. The old 'qmlscene' does not deliver good user experience.

      New runner should

      • have a control view for FPS and performance measurement data
      • follow the project settings in scene-environment directly
      • be constantly running if window is set active (display changes to the project with a delay)
      • Have prebuilt APK and iOS binaries so deployment can be easily done with Android or iOS device too
      • Be pre-integrated in the B2Qt image so it can be invoked from the B2Qt installation too
      • There should also be updated version of the runner in Android store at least

TODO: We have qml2puppet already. Implementation is relatively straightforward. suitable for a new developer, such as Burak with a designer such as Heikki/Soili

UPDATE: The runner code should be part of the B2Qt basic image as well, need to agree this with embedded team in Qt RND.

      UPDATE:

qml2puppet is used to run the QML application on the host machine desktop.

For running on the device we can use the Design Viewer. Currently we work on the Design Viewer for Android.
Once the Design Viewer for Android is finished we can work on a Boot2Qt, iOS, Windows and macOS version.

When using Boot2Qt we currently use qml. Once we have the design viewer for Boot2Qt we can offer that one, too.
When using qdb and qml the drivers have to be installed.
The Design Viewer for Boot2Qt would only require an internet connection and could also provide a kiosk mode. This will make it really easy to
get any QDS application onto a Boot2Qt device.
