Selection workflows are CRITICAL to adoption and productivity:

– and leveraging the existing expectations from the Mac GD core applications is necessary

1] Currently its impossible to drag > select inside an Item: this is a HORRIBLY restrictive limitation in the program. 

– refer to Figma's allowing such workflow (IE – Item = Frame in Figma) 

2] Having to "fully enclose" the given object in order to select it is not the standard (on Mac), nor is it the most useful use case UX wise. (this is a horrible standard from Microsoft, and should not be the default behavior). 

– refer to all standard Mac GD programs, the most common behavior is to have the drag>box select on intersection of given objects. 

This is what is expected.
