Getting started documentation for QDS on MCU
Description
Scope of MCU docs in QDS: as limited as possible, at least initially. Only cover what can be done in QDS, not other tools or complete workflow.
Target readers: technical artist, app/GUI developer, HW developer
Table of contents:
- What is Qt Design Studio and what can you use it for when developing a MCU-based device. It should also include a brief explanation of where it fits in a typical dev workflow (design tools, embedded IDEs, Qt Creator), and where to find more information (links to MCU Quick Start Guide for example). This part can be structured so that there is one paragraph depending on whether you are:
- a technical artist
- a GUI/app developer
- a HW developer
- Table of features in QDS, indicating what is fully, partially, or not supported for MCU projects. Some examples:
- Bridges
- Code editor
- 2D editor
- 3D editor
- Timeline
- Translations
- Specific components or modules
- Most-important-to-know properties (fonts, transformations)
- Preview on device
- etc...
- Version compatibility between Qt Design Studio and Qt for MCUs
- How to create a new MCU project
- Where to find ready-made MCU projects for QDS
- How to run the app on desktop QUL "Simulator":
- availability of the generated CMake files in the project
- link to https://doc.qt.io/qtcreator/creator-developing-mcu.html for how to build it
- How to iteratively use the QDS project in other tools, such as Qt Creator or other IDEs
- How to run the app on target MCU: link to Quick Start Guides (?)
Location of the page: TBD
Also needs to be linked from https://doc.qt.io/QtForMCUs-2.3/index.html
