Qt Multimedia activates camera device if it runs in QML_PUPPET_MODE (Qt Design Studio)

When the file multimedia\examples\multimedia\video\recorder\main.qml is opened in design view, it appears as if the application is run as the hosts/target system camera turns on.

Is this expected behavior? One would think it should be part of a project that is compiled and run before this would happen
