When selecting text of TextArea inside Flickable / ScrollView using select(), it makes sure that rightmost selection (end) is inside the view area but not the leftmost selection (start). So it works correctly when selecting causes view to move towards right, but not when view needs to move towards left.

Attached simple tester app and video. All 3 test versions show this issue when pressing the prev button, last test with manual ensureVisible() works.
