Mac OS X status tips for menu actions do not appear

      Status tips do not appear in the statusbar for menus on the Mac. This can be seen in e.g qt/examples/mainwindow/application. When hovering the mouse over the toolbar buttons the status tip is shown. However hovering the mouse over the menu items does not show the status tip.
