Application state handling for resuming after app restart

As a user I would like to be able to seamlessly resume my work after browser shutdown, network loss, or closing the application/browser. 

This would require some way of identifying a session in the app, ability to serialize application state, and ability to restore application state from the serialized state.

Is QSettings a solution to this?
