On Windows, showing a dialog and then doing something CPU intensive can cause an empty frame to appear after it has been hidden. This occurs only outside of the Visual Studio debugger in debug mode when you force the dialog to be redrawn (and subseqently you will get an empty window since the paint event has not been processed).
