Description
Identified challenges
A separate Documentation page for EoS would be better that what we have today
CRA sub-project Processes, Quality and Legal Compliance notes 26th Aug 2024: https://intranet.qt.io/pages/viewpage.action?spaceKey=QTPO&title=EU+CRA+Steering+Group#EUCRASteeringGroup-Processes,QualityandLegalCompliance
We need to sharpen communication in EoS product releases, for Qt done in a wiki (https://doc.qt.io/qt-6/supported-platforms.html#supported-qt-versions) and for other products not part of the documentation at all. Should be a dedicated page part of doc.qt.io or equivalent documentation for each product. Something like https://endoflife.date/qt , but created and maintained by our self.
Documentation on current EoS page is confusing
https://doc.qt.io/qt-6/supported-platforms.html#supported-qt-versions
I just had sales super confused on this page. They read it so that 5.15.17 was released 2020-05-26 and did not know when 5.15.0 was released. Thus it would need a differentiation between Minor and Maintenance releases dates more clearly (5.15.0 was release 2020-05-26, latest Maintenance release for it is 5.15.17 released 2024-05-22).
Improvement idea: Perhaps use same format in date as in release column, release "5.15 (5.15.17)" and date "2020-05-26 (2024-05-22)" would be a solution???
Proposed fixes
- Move Supported Qt Versions to separate page
- Reformat table:
Qt Version | Latest Release | Standard Support |
---|---|---|
5.15 | 5.15.15 (open-source) 5.15.17 (commercial) |
Until 2025-05-26 (Qt Subscription license holders only) |
.. | .. | .. |
6.7 | 6.7.2 | Planned until 2024-09-25 |
Desired schedule
- Q4 2024
