Usability improvement for QToolbar extension menu

    XMLWordPrintable

Details

    Description

When a toolbar contains too many items to have them all displayed, a button with an arrow appears; if you push that button, there's an animation of the toolbar enlarging (actually it's a popup menu) to display the missing items.

The usability issue here is that the extra items appear on the left side of the toolbar, while you just pressed the "extend" button to the right. This means that you have to move your mouse across the whole toolbar to click any of these buttons. To be able to press these extra items on the left, you need to carefully move the mouse, very slowly, to make sure it stays inside the toolbar. This becomes increasingly difficult the larger the visual toolbar is.

It would be nice if the extension menu could be moved close to the extension button, or improved in any other way to make clicking these buttons easier.
