unencrypted mariadb/mysql connection fail and unable to disable SSL

    Description

      Since I upgraded to 6.9 from 6.8 I cannot to connect o plain text mariadb server I used before with no issue.
      I got 

      errorTLS/SSL error: SSL is required, but the server does not support it

      I tried to force disabling it by setting the connection option but now I get

      Warning: QMYSQLDriver::open: Illegal connect option value 'MYSQL_OPT_SSL_MODE=SSL_MODE_DISABLED' ((null):0, (null))

      Possibly related to   https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-84797 ?
