Qt uses QImageReader and QImageWriter to decode files and byte arrays into a QImage. The implementation of which is encapsulated inside a plugin that implements the QImageIOHandler class.

Qt should contain an implementation of this class that uses the ICL to convert data encoded to a QImage as efficiently as possible.
