RTL languages not handled correctly in item views

    • Windows XP and 7, Mac OSX Snow Leopard and Kubuntu 10.10 all exhibit the same problem.

      Running the Qt demos address book or frozen columns can be done to illustrate that RTL languages such as Arabic or Hebrew are not handled correctly. When the views are in edit mode such text is correctly aligned from the right, but after editing the text is always aligned from the left. The suggestion found in the documentation to use the version of QPainter::drawText that takes a QRect as a parameter does not work to solve the problem in delegate subclasses.
