Cannot assign QImage or QDeclarativeImage as a texture on a shader program

Quick3d Shader programs accept a URL as a texture, but not a QImage or QDeclarativeImage. This behavior is inconsistent with the Effect class.

The Images.qml file from the shaders example includes a shader element and an image element that can be assigned to it to observe this behaviour.
