Description
While I understand the need to have a new installer (as opposed to the rather clean .mpkg solution of Qt 4), the current install experience feels sub-standard. My main gripe is about where things get installed. Just asking for a destination folder and dropping everything there seems a lazy solution to me.
For instance, the expected place for the Qt*.framework bundles is /Library/Frameworks. (Also, remember that frameworks support versioning). For Assistant, Designer & Co., it could be /Applications/Qt/ (/Developer shouldn't be used anymore, AFAIK). Things like qmake, uic, mkspecs/, etc. should go under /usr/local (under Qt 4, qmake, uic go under /usr/bin/, yet we still get a /usr/local/Qt4.8/mkspecs/, which IMHO is wrong).
