Filling a combo box with QVariant<int> does not work

The example at qtquickcontrols/examples/quick/controls/text used to be with a combo box instead of a spin button. The combo box was filled with strings but could be changed to use QVariant<int> - and it worked in Qt 5.1 beta but does not work with the RC.
