When using the installer on a linux machine ( x86_64 , android_x86_64 ) , as sudo ./qt-linux-opensource-5.2.0-android-x86_64-offline_2013-12-06_14-05-35-200.run , the examples directory will have 700 permissions. This restricts access to any user besides 'root' and qtcreator can't see the example either.
