Android bad text rendering of bold text

Bold text sometimes doesn't render properly (pieces of the words are missing, sometimes letters, sometimes parts of letters) on my Samsung Galaxy S3 running 4.3. Please see attached image for an example. The top word in the image is "Capture" and the bottom word in the image is "Cancel."

I don't know why but this doesn't happen all the time. Sometimes when I load the app the bold text will render properly, and sometimes it won't. I haven't figured out what changes in between it working not working.
