Clicking an item in a QHeaderView of a QTableView does not properly set the current item / selection

Clicking an item in a QHeaderView of a QTableView does not properly set the current item / selection, i.e. if one clicks the header to select a row, the row is selected. However, if one then proceeds to shift-click an index in a different row, the selection does not start from the row that was earlier selected by clicking the header.
