      This may be related to https://bugreports.qt-project.org/browse/QTBUG-32737:

      When using a substitution font, Japanese text is not rendered when using Qt font rendering on Windows. See the attached files:

      main.cpp: sets up "Meiryo UI" as a substitution font for Arial
      main.qml: the first text element does not show Japanese characters, whereas the second does
