On my notebook's keyboard i have media keys that change the volume level, and when Creator is in focus, system doesn't react on keystroke.

This affects mute key [0xAD], volume up [0xAF] and volume down [0xAE].

Although, other keys, like next/previous track or screen brightness up/down, work.

And i don't have any additional software that control volume level, or indicates it on the screen.
