QMake function quote(...) does nothing

Hi,

in the QMake documentation it is stated:

quote(string)
Converts a whole string into a single entity and returns the result. This is just a fancy way of enclosing the string into double quotes.

But in reality this function does nothing. Very misleading. Either it has to put things into quotes or documentation must be fixed!
