When using the sample mapviewer application then double tapping/double clicking the map does the following:

1.) Center the map at the double tap geoposition.
2.) Zoom in.

A better behaviour (used by most maps like Google Maps and various apps) would be to zoom in the map at the tap position, e.g. the location under the tap position remains the same.

The same applies to the mouse zoom wheel behaviour.
