MapViewer example freezes

      Frequently parts of the MapViewer window stop rendering / responding to mouse input. Clicking on the menu bar at the top of the window fixes it.

      Steps to reproduce:
      1. Load MapViewer example.
      2. Press and hold left mouse button to bring up menu.
      3. Select "Add Marker".
      4. Marker doesn't appear. Map is frozen. Can't pan/zoom etc.
      5. Click on menu bar item.
      6. Clicked menu opens. Map doesn't update.
      7. Dismiss menu. Map updates.
