Unable to get keypress events inside a QGraphicsWidget on Android

The code below works perfectly fine when compiled for a PC, however it fails to function properly on Android. Th objective is to capture keystrokes inside a custom QGraphcisItem however the reimplemented events give this error on each stroke:
