Qt Quick forces the mac to use discrete GPU instead of intel GPU

      When launching an app created with Qt 5.9.1, using QtQuick or QtQuick Controls 2, the mac switches to the more energy consuming GPU.

      I have tried editing the info.plist. While this fixed Autoswitching on a "Qt widget" app, it didn't fix the QtQuick apps.

       

      I.e. Setting "NSSupportsAutomaticGraphicsSwitching = YES" doesn't help.

       

      Tested on: 2011 Macbook Pro. I do not know if other MacBooks behave similarly.
