Qt Designer (within Qt Creator): crash when in design mode and trying to reload a (newly, externally modified) malformed .ui file

    Description

      Qt creator will reliably crash under the following conditions:

      1. open a regular .ui (in design mode by default)
      2. somehow make it an invalid xml file (for example by removing a </widget>) with an external application
      3. go back to Qt Create. It will now ask if the file should be reloaded; Reload the file
      4. Qt Creator will crash instantly

      Opening a malformed .ui file will normally show an error message, this should also happen when reloading a now malformed .ui file too.
